Howto: Disable nytimes.com double click foolishness.
Posted by fatius at May 4th, 2007
A few months ago (give or take), nytimes.com added a feature that opened a popup window when you double clicked on a word in an article. It pops up a dictionary definition of the selected word.
Well, when I read the stuff on the web, I compulsively click on and select the text. I don’t know why I do it, perhaps you do it to. My little habit and the new feature were not compatible… until today.
Here’s how you disable that feature in Firefox:
If you haven’t already, install the adblock extension. Click on it and filter the following text out:
http://graphics8.nytimes.com/*altClickToSearch.js
Click on the image to see the adblock window:
Tada!
